    Halladay throwing a no-hitter...

through 7 so far against the Reds, I bet a lot of curse words and objects are being thrown around at pvfans. heh To make things worse, in the NFL world Portis is out 4-6 weeks.

Not really, I don't have diluted expectations. I'm ecstatic that my team even made the playoffs. Sports are more enjoyable when your favorite teams aren't the Cowboys, Yankees, and Carolina basketball.

i can attest to that; only a Reds fan would frame a newspaper from winning a division instead of a NLCS or a World Series haha

Have to enjoy what you can. I figure each team I pull for should have a shot to win the whole thing once every 20 years under current sports climates. If the cap goes on in MLB or comes off for good in the NFL that changes.

I still believe you are getting too excited over no cap in the NFL, Washington has tried the expensive free agent path for years and its not worked out yet.

Cincy is in great shape, if they dont contend any more after this year it should be a disappointment.

They can win the division they can't win the whole thing. It's like the Twins, until this year, (payroll is enough to win it all now) they just don't have the money to get multiple "good" pitchers. Without two good pitchers you aren't going very far in the playoffs.

By the way, I'm becoming more hardened with age. My basketball team finally makes the final four and we all know what happened. The Reds finally make the playoffs and this happens.

    Re: Halladay throwing a no-hitter...

you basically have to have two number one starters to win the WS.
thats why Philly is my pick to win it all, two (arguably 3) top of the line starters.

I dont see how you can classify Minnesota and Cincy together, Twins payroll is up there now, they are no longer the budget playoff warriors

    Re: Halladay throwing a no-hitter...

Reds now are what the Twins were five years ago imo. It's up to the Reds if they spend to stay there. I personally don't think they will and the Reds will enjoy 2-3 years of success before falling off the face of the earth again. I just hope it's a slow fall, if they hit rock bottom all at once like the Indians did it will be a tough pill to swallow.
